Frequently Asked Questions
Regular mopping only removes surface soil and not the embedded dirt that causes the grout discoloration. Professional cleaning and sealing restores the look of your tile and grout and extends its life.
At a fraction of the cost of replacing your tile, professional tile and grout cleaning will make your old tile surfaces look new. It will make you love your tile again. Plus, when you opt for cleaning, you don’t have to deal with mess and down time.
After your tile has been cleaned and sealed by Grout Matters, all tile surfaces should be cleaned with a neutral cleaner. A neutral cleaner is neither acidic nor alkaline, with a pH of 7. We recommend that you use ZEP Neutral Floor Cleaner, which can be purchased at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s store.
To keep the tile floors in your home looking their best, we recommend having them professionally cleaned every year, depending on traffic, pets, children and regular floor maintenance. After the initial treatment, cleanings will be much easier, and as a result, the cost of maintenance cleanings are considerably less than the original cost.
In most instances, you may resume use of your floors immediately after the job is complete. Floors will need to stay free from standing water for 72 hours to allow the sealer to fully cure.
Some people notice a mild odor after tile and grout is cleaned. The scent dissipates quickly as the floor dries. The cleaners and sealers that we use are safe for people and pets.
Simply have floors (including closets and pantries) cleared of all items and sweep or vacuum the area to be treated.
After your project is complete, we will provide you with a simple maintenance guide to better help you care for your newly sealed tile.
